Brookshire campround in the Los Padres National Forest can accommodate trailers up to 16 feet long. From Santa Maria: Highway 166 to Sierra Madre Road. Sierra Madre Road to Miranda Pines Road. Take Miranda Pines Road to Forest Road #11N04 and make a right into Brookshire Campground.

We took the campsite right in the middle. Only saw one other down a hill next to the creek where there was water running at a trickle. Chose not to risk the bugs.

Link: Brookshire Campground Date: 05-03-2020 Surveyor Name: Los Padres Forest Association Camp Description: Campground is clean and appears to not have been used in a while. There are 2-3 campsites and a nice sparkling bathroom. The weather station that used to be here has been removed and there is also a newish Indian Trailhead sign that was probably installed at the same time as the new toilet. Link: Brookshire Campground Date: 10-05-2019 Surveyor Name: Dave Gravender Camp Description: Had a wonderful visit to the campground.  Secluded is just the beginning of the story.  23 miles off of 166 took us 3 1/2 hours.  The road is rocky but didn’t require 4x4.  High clearance was necessary in a few spots due to erosion ruts.  The bathroom seem new and was clean.  Took a 7 mile hike out and back on Indian Trail.  Saw a gopher snake and an owl.  Worth the long trip out to enjoy this remote part of California. Water Source: Trickle Water Source Details: Weather Conditions: Images:

Link: Brookshire Campground Date: 05-13-2019 Surveyor Name: Daniel Wagalrich Camp Description: Before entering the main Brookshire campground, there is a small area to the left next to the creek which had 2-3 inches of steadily flowing water at the time of my visit.  This camp has one additional spot in the main area. Each spot has a picnic table and standard round metal fire pit. There is a restroom shack which appears to be in good condition. Even though there are only a two official spots, there is plenty of space for several vehicles.Â
The road (11N04A) leading from the Horseshoe Springs/Pine Canyon was in good condition. There are a few spots where you cross the creek so be mindful camping here if there are heavy rains expected. Â

Â Camp has not been used in awhile due to road closure from winter rains. Â The Willow Springs trail down from the Lake Ridge trail needs brushing badly as it is rather overgrown. Â Perfect weather. Two outhouses are available. Overall a very quite camp at the end of a long road. Caution, watch for the broken glass everywhere, the glass is clear of color, so it could be very easy to miss. We did not stay overnight, we just quickly passed through to check things out. Water Source: Trickle Water Source Details: This is a car camp, but no faucets, the creek was just a trickle.
